It's that time of year again — wedding season! My first wedding of the year took place back in March on the Grand Strand's beloved seaside village, Pawleys Island. Jennifer and Paul exchanged vows under partly sunny skies at the picturesque Village House at Litchfield. If you're in the market for a wedding venue near Myrtle Beach, keep reading to see why the charming ambiance at the Village House is worth considering for your wedding.
The Village House offers a tastefully decorated and comfortable space for grooms and groomsmen to relax and get ready on-site. The groom's room is sized appropriately for a groom and his entire guy squad. It had a private bathroom, plenty of mirrors, a bar area, and comfortable seating. I arrived on-site and joined Paul in the groom's room as he put on his tie and shoes. He was dressed and ready about an hour before the ceremony, which gave me time to shoot some keepsake portraits of him before the wedding.
Next, I stopped by the bridal suite, where I found Jennifer, her mother, and her maid of honor relaxing in silk robes as they sipped champagne. The Village House bridal suite is beautiful and spacious. The room is clean and bright and painted in soft shades of pink, which is sure to help alleviate the stress from months of wedding planning and pre-wedding jitters. It has four hair stations, two makeup stations, a private bathroom, and a bar area. They even offer professional hair and makeup services, which Jennifer and the girls happily accepted. The vibe among everyone was calm and cheerful, and my first wedding of the season was off to a great start.
The Village House has newly renovated spaces that can accommodate a wedding ceremony and reception with a maximum of 250 guests. Site amenities include an impressive ballroom, a charming courtyard, sprawling green landscapes, a romantic gazebo, and a lovely tranquil pond, which allows plenty of flexibility when planning the wedding of your dreams, no matter what time of the year. Located in the heart of Pawleys Island, this venue is about a five-minute drive to the beach. Jennifer and Paul got married one day before the spring equinox on March 19th. The weather in Pawleys was lovely, having a daytime high of 75°F, so they decided to have their ceremony outdoors.
Jennifer and Paul had a micro-wedding with all the time-honored traditions that most large-scale weddings have, but with a small guest list of twenty-five people or less. I'm a big fan of micro-weddings because they seem more meaningful and intimate. When two people stand face to face and make lifelong promises of love and commitment to each other, it makes sense to minimize the guest list to immediate members of your family and your closest friends. Micro-weddings are a nice balance between an elopement and a large-scale wedding. They are also much more affordable and less stressful to plan.
After the ceremony, the wedding party remained on the lawn for formals while the guests went to cocktail hour in the ballroom. I shot the formals as quickly and efficiently as possible so everyone could join the others and have a celebratory drink. Having spoken to Jennifer and Paul about who they wanted in their formals beforehand made the process short and sweet. I captured the happiness and sincerity of the moment, and it was time to celebrate.
The Village House Ballroom was set and ready for a stylish celebration. The tables had white and pale blue linens and silver padded chairs. The sweetest bouquets of pink and ivory roses sat upon each table to remind everyone that spring had arrived. In the middle of the room hung a grand chandelier. The eye-catching stone fireplace and hardwood floors added a touch of rustic charm.
As everyone got comfortable, the festivities unfolded. Heartfelt toasts and humorous speeches went around the room in honor of the newlyweds and the love that they share. After happy chatter, a few drinks, and appetizers, everyone settled into a delicious dinner. Bovine's and Wahoos have teamed up and partnered with The Village House to provide in-house catering services, which is another desirable aspect in choosing this wedding venue.
After dinner, it was time for dancing. Jennifer and Paul took off their formal footwear and slipped on comfortable shoes more appropriate for getting down. There wasn't a shy person in the room as people took to the dance floor and boogied like no one was watching. Then came the bouquet and garter belt toss, followed by the cake-cutting ceremony. After more dancing, hugs, kisses, and congratulations, Jennifer and Paul exited the Village House under a cascade of sparklers as their guests cheered them on.
A good time was had by all, including me! Jennifer and Paul's wedding was a great way to begin my busiest time of the year. I'm thankful that I got to share their happiness and be their wedding photographer. If you'd like to book me for your wedding, I'd love to talk with you! I travel from Myrtle Beach as far north as Wilmington, NC, and as far south as Charleston, SC. Please click here to contact me and check my availability. In addition to The Village House, I'm familiar with many wedding venues along the Grand Strand and happy to share some suggestions. I hope to connect with you soon.
