During their 10 years of marriage, Angela and Scott Griffin have learned that when it comes to love, actions speak louder than words. That is why they decided to renew their vows with a grand and nostalgic gesture.
Though they live in Smithsburg, Maryland, the couple decided to celebrate in Myrtle Beach where they were married in 2010. On a beautiful sailboat from Enchanted Sailing Charters, with the same officiant and the same photographer (me!), Angela and Scott spoke these vows to one another:
Scott: 10 years ago took you, Angela, to be my lawful wife, and now I repeat those promises–never to forsake you, to love you faithfully, to support you as a faithful and godly husband is bound to do, and to live with you in holiness, keeping faith and truth to you in all things according to God’s holy Word.
Angela: 10 years ago I, took you, Scott, to be my lawful husband, and now I repeat those promises–to love you faithfully, to respect you, to serve and assist you, never to forsake you, to live with you in holiness, keeping faith and truth to you in all things, as a faithful and godly wife is bound to do according to God’s holy Word. To always love you best.
Angela and Scott were blessed with perfect boat weather as we set sail from Cricket Cove Marina in Little River. She wore a white flowy maxi dress with simple spaghetti straps; and his navy button-up, khaki shorts, and straw fedora added the perfect complement to the seafaring theme.
I remember when I first shot Angela and Scott at their 2010 wedding at The Breakers Resort. They were some of my earliest clients and such a joy to work with. Angela wanted a simple, family-oriented affair that also showcased her bright, cheery personality.
She made her own flowers in purple, green, yellow, and various shades of pink, and chose a turquoise sash to accent her strapless gown. Scott added his own splash of color with a matching turquoise tie under a pure white tux.
After celebrating with their closest family and friends, they headed to Maryland for a very unconventional honeymoon. The pair, who met while working as truck drivers for the same company, attended the Maryland State Truck Driving Competition. Scott won first place and went on to compete at Nationals!
Each year since they first said, “I Do,” Angela and Scott have gone on a special anniversary getaway. This year, after a decade of love and devotion, their journey came full circle with a return trip to Myrtle Beach and a renewal of their vows.
When asked her advice for couples just starting out, Angela responded: “A relationship doesn't have to be hard work. You can agree to disagree. The true expression of love is through your actions.”
I am honored to have spent yet another perfect day with this wonderful couple. Wishing Angela and Scott decade after decade of continued happiness!
